Molecular
Immunology Center increases exports

THE Molecular Immunology Center (CIM) had a
positive year in 2011, exceeding its annual export
plan and immunizing a larger number of patients
suffering from advanced lung cancer with the
therapeutic vaccine CIMAVAX–EGF.
According
to CIM directors, this institution, part of the
scientific complex in West Havana, last year close
to 20 countries with commercial links to CIM
increased their purchases of biopharmaceutics, and
the number of clinical trials abroad also grew.
The institution also had excellent results in
various regulatory inspections to certify good
production and clinical practices, and was credited
with being the best teaching unit attached to the
University of Havana.
Inaugurated December 5, 1994, the Molecular
Immunology Center’s central objective is to develop
new medicaments for the treatment of cancer and
other chronic non-transferable diseases. Its results
currently benefit more than 10,000 patients within
the national public health system.
