Jardines del Rey
Havana.- The 24th Tourism Convention, to be held in
the beach resort of Varadero, will be dedicated to
Jardines del Rey.
According to sources from the organizing committee,
the new offers and facilities of Jardines del Rey (Gardens
of the King), located in eastern Ciego de Avila
province, will be presented at the Varadero
convention.
Every year, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo attract
more foreign vacationers looking for sun and beach
options.
Tour operators, travel agencies, airlines,
specialized media organizations, tourism
professional and representatives of tourist
institutions will participate in the convention.
Within the framework of the event, special attention
will be paid to the important role of culture in the
expansion of the leisure industry, and to Great
Britain, a country that has become a major source of
travelers to Cuba.
Good Results in Cuba's Tourism
Sector
Havana.- Cuba's leisure industry, the fastest-growing
sector in the domestic economy, reported good
results during the first quarter of 2004.
According to statistics from specialized sources,
during the first three months of the year, tourist
arrivals increased by 13.5 percent, compared to the
same period in 2003.
Canada, Italy, France, Great Britain and Spain
topped the list of major sources of vacationers to
Cuba's destinations.
Canada and Great Britain reported the best results,
growing by 29 and 37.9 percent, respectively.
However, experts noted Spain's recovery, with a 7.7-percent
growth in the number of travelers visiting the
Caribbean Island.
If the growing trend continues like this, added the
experts, Cuba is in condition to receive two million
vacationers by this year's end.
