Demonstration in
Spain against the blockade of Cuba
BARCELONA, October 24.—Hundreds of
people marched today in Barcelona calling for an end
of the U.S. blockade of Cuba, in a demonstration
convened by the Let’s Defend Cuba platform, EFE
reports.
Salvador Torres, a spokesperson for
the platform supported by 80 organizations in the
Spanish region of Catalonia, declared during the
protest: "We are denouncing the unilateral blockade
on the part of the United States against Cuba,
recently aggravated by new restrictions on Cubans
resident abroad traveling to their country."
Those attending the demonstration
also called on the European Union to change its
position in relation to Cuba and to adopt a new
policy of cooperation with the island.
The protest ended in a series of
activities including live concerts and theater
performances.
