Anti-terrorism
caravan in Miami
MIAMI. – With the slogans: "Terrorists belong in
jail!" "Extradition for Posada Carriles!" "Freedom
for the Five!" "We demand justice!" and others on
placards taped to their cars, dozens of drivers
formed a caravan of vehicles with Cuban and U.S.
flags fluttering from them, the headlights on and
horns honking, through the main streets of this
metropolitan area on Sunday, May 7.
This caravan was held to protest acts of
terrorism being perpetrated by extreme right-wing
Cuban-American organizations in Miami, and was
organized by groups that comprise the Alianza
Martiana: the ATC, the Alianza Martiana, the José
Martí Cultural Association, the Antonio Maceo
Brigade, the Association of Christian Women in
Defense of the Family and the Miami Bolivarian
Circle.
The caravan, which successfully traveled more
than 25 kilometers, beginning in the southern part
of the county, ended in Bicentennial Park in central
Miami. It was called to coincide with the start of a
trial against the Cuban-American terrorists Santiago
Alvarez and Osvaldo Mitat, originally set for May 8
and then postponed by the presiding judge until May
15. (Andrés Gómez)
