Another U.S. helicopter brought
down in Iraq
BAGHDAD, February 22 (PL).— The U.S. command of the
occupation troops has acknowledged that one of its
Black Hawk helicopters was shot down by the Iraqi
resistance to the north of this capital, according
to press reports.
A
spokesperson for the command admitted that the
aircraft was attacked with missiles and light
weapons, but said there were no serious injuries
among the crew members.
Nonetheless, passengers who were traveling in the
helicopter were transferred to a nearby base to
receive medical assistance for the injuries
received.
The previous day, the occupation army admitted that
a helicopter had made an emergency landing but
failed to explain the causes.
The Black Hawk is a multipurpose vehicle designed to
transfer assault troops and is equipped with two
machine guns, as well as Stinger and Hellfire
missiles.
A
group known as the Mujahadin Army assumed
responsibility for bringing down the aircraft.
