U.S. acknowledges 11 casualties
in one day in Iraq

BAGHDAD, February 8.— The U.S. Army lost 11 soldiers on Wednesday in Iraq, according to a military communiqué, which said that the four most recent fatal casualties occurred in combat in Al Anbar province.

The figure included the seven individuals killed when a military combat crashed in that same province. The most recent four were members of the Marine Corps elite forces.

It was also learned that U.S. air attacks against the city of Ameriya in Fallujah killed 13 people, PL reported.

The joint U.S. and Iraqi forces have cordoned off the neighborhoods of Qadisiya and Yarmuk, both located in the western part of the Iraqi capital, and have begun a series of raids, as part of a large-scale offensive in a security plan that will include 80,000 troops.
