Ten more U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq
BAGHDAD, March 6 (PL) —. The U.S. occupation forces
command acknowledged the deaths of 10 of its
soldiers in actions by the resistance in the Iraqi
provinces of Salahadin and Diyala.
The
most recent military reports indicated that in
addition to those fatalities, U.S. forces also
suffered a dozen wounded, some seriously.
The
most notable event occurred in the northern province
of Salahadin, where six soldiers died and three were
injured after a roadside bomb went off as their
patrol went by.
According to a military communiqué, the soldiers
killed were part of the troops operating in that
province, considered by U.S. military intelligence
to be an insurgency stronghold.
Press reports compared the pace of casualties for
the occupation forces in recent days with those of
January, when the resistance shot down several U.S.
military helicopters.
The
number of U.S. soldiers killed in that Arab country
since the start of the war in March 2003 has now
risen to 3,180, while injuries exceed 23,500.
