Testimonies for truth and justice

Titles on the Five at the Book Fair

Madeleine Sautié Rodríguez

THE titles Les debo verlos libres and Estados Unidos vs Cinco Héroes, by Celia Hart Santamaría and Rodolfo Dávalos Fernández, respectively, launched yesterday at the 19th Havana Book Fair, have to be seen as testimonies to justice and truth.

Ricardo Alarcón, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, commented on the two books before a public that filled La Cabaña’s Nicolás Guillén Hall, and was also attended by Culture Minister Abel Prieto and family members of the five Cuban anti-terrorists incarcerated in U.S. jails.

The first book comprises articles and an exchange of correspondence between the Five and Celia Hart, with a prologue by Mirta Rodríguez, the mother of Antonio Guerrero. The compilation, published by the Center for Martí Studies, presupposes, from its title, a debt with the cruelly confined Cuban compatriots.

Estados Unidos vs Cinco Héroes, from the Capitán San Luis publishing house, is based on a series of articles from Juventud Rebelde daily, whose content the author has brought up to date. As Alarcón stated, it constitutes an instrument of combat.

“One day there will be millions of books condemning this case. The fact that these men are not together with their loved ones today is because of their love of this people,” he affirmed.
