President Raúl
Castro meets with authorities of the Catholic Church
IN
the afternoon of May 19, President Raúl Castro met
with Cardinal Jaime Ortega Alamino, Archbishop of
Havana, and Monsignor Dionisio García Ibañez,
Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba and chair of the
Cuban Conference of Catholic Bishops.
During the meeting they discussed
various issues of mutual interest, especially the
favorable developments between the Church and the
Cuban government, as well as the current national
and international situation.
Caridad Diego Bello, head of the
Religious Affairs Office of the Central Committee of
the Communist Party, also participated in the
meeting.
