seeking a great
"Just Cause" in Havana
FORMER Colombian Senator Piedad
Córdoba is interested in making the case of the Five
a great "Just Cause" program, as she affirmed in
Havana in relation to the alternative communications
initiative she directs.
Córdoba made a statement to the press after meeting
with family members of the Five and Hero of the
Republic of Cuba René González.
After talking with relatives of the
anti-terrorists fighters and René González, she said
that her intention is to appeal to sensibility and
emotion in order to secure their liberation.
A documentary on the issue of the
Five would seek to take a convincing message to all
the peoples of Latin America and, in particular, to
the U.S. people, academics and all organizations
fighting for human rights, she affirmed.
The leader of the Colombian Women
and Men for Peace movement confirmed her commitment
to "continue fighting until they are out of prison
and not completing unjust sentences, which is a way
of punishing an entire people for making the
decision to be free and sovereign."
The "Just Cause" program, directed
by Córdoba and broadcast by the Telesur network,
consists of a series of documentaries on Latin
American economic, political and social realities.
