Raúl meets with
Brazilian President
RIO de Janeiro, Brazil.—During the
final day of sessions of the UN Conference on
Sustainable Development, Rio+20, President Raúl
Castro Ruz met with Dilma Rousseff, President of the
Federative Republic of Brazil.

Moving
visit with former President

In a cordial exchange, the two
leaders discussed the excellent state of bilateral
relations and expressed the will to continue
extending them. They also commented on other issues
of joint interest.
President Raúl Castro also met with
the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly
Berdimujamedov; The Prime Ministers of Russia and
Nepal, Dmitry Medvedev and Baburam Bhattarai,
respectively; and Angolan Vice President Fernando da
Pieda de Dos Santos, with whom he discussed the
state of bilateral relations and other international
issues, in particular the development of this Rio+20
Summit.
Later on, the Cuban President met
with Presidents Rafael Correa of Ecuador and José
Carlos Fonseca of Cape Verde, as well as with Vice
President Danny Faure of the Seychelles.
While he was in Brazil, Raúl also
visited Luis Inacio Lula da Silva in the hotel where
the former president was staying in Rio de Janeiro,
for what was a moving meeting between two great and
longstanding friends, during which they talked about
different issues of interest.
